I was first licensed as GW6BEI in 1981 whilst living in Carmarthen, South Wales. A job move back to England meant the call sign changed to G6BEI, operating mainly mobile on VHF and UHF for a number of years. In 2000 I upgraded the licence and was issued with the new call sign M5GAC . My main interest is in operating all bands and I have recently obtained DXCC. I a member of the Nunsfield House Amateur Radio Group and Derby Raynet. My current station consists of the Icom 746, main rig, with the second radio being the Yeasu FT-840, which is also used whilst on holiday or operating from the Scottish Isles. Facilities are also available for monitoring the DX cluster. A Strumech tower is in use which supports the VHF aerials, a 6m beam and a 2 element HF beam. A 40/20m dipole and an inverted L aerial is also in use covering 160/80 and 40m.
This year (2010), whilst on holiday in Scotland, 10th to 21st May, I shall be operating from the Isle of Skye, WAB square NG53. Using the call sign MM5GAC/P, I shall be operating mainly in the mornings and evenings on 80m, 40m and 20m Contact me for further details of this trip. e-mail me for further information. |
